Users

Find below a number of useful tools that will help you to get the most out of OpenQuake. If you are not yet a user, please go to the ‘Get Started’ section.

Get Started with OATS
A guide to get started with the OpenQuake Alpha Testing Service (OATS). It contains a brief FAQ, which will be extended as more questions come in: http://openquake.org/oats-user-guide.

OpenQuake User Manual
The OpenQuake User Manual provides a clear description of the configuration file, the input models and the output files. This document is focused towards anyone that has downloaded OpenQuake, or is using OpenQuake through OATS. Download version 0.1 of the OpenQuake User Manual now.

If you have suggestions on improving it: go to GEM’s collaboration and interaction platform Nexus and submit your comments.

OpenQuake User Group for questions and discussion
We have an OpenQuake User google-group where you can add your questions and comments. It automatically has a mailing list attached to it, hence your question will be emailed to other users, so that we can collectively learn. Depending on the type of question you have, collaborators of the science or development team will try to answer your question the best way they can. Sign up at http://groups.google.com/group/openquake-users.

OATS Technical Updates
All OATS-users automatically receive and email when there is a new release, or if there is maintenance scheduled.

The Science behind OpenQuake: the OQ Book
This book aims to provide OpenQuake users with a detailed description of the theoretical background of the algorithms used in the various hazard and risk calculators of OpenQuake, including a description of where OpenQuake relies on the source code of other projects such as OpenSHA. A distinction between the features that are currently supported and those that are on the road map for OpenQuake is also included. We plan to continue to update the book as OpenQuake development progresses. Download the OpenQuake Book, version 0.1
